found

a few days ago, as i was busy being a mom, dishwasher, teacher, bed maker, etc....
i'm not sure which one of the above i was tending to at the moment, but i heard a joyful 'noise'
coming from another part of the house.
it didn't take me long to figure out who it was, what he was singing, and how he was singing it.
or should i say, meowing it.
it stopped me in my tracks, and i am grateful to have captured the moment.

i find God all around me.
He is the new life that is miraculously budding out in the trees outside my bedroom window.
He is the breeze that blows and refreshes me through the newly installed screens in my windows.
He is the sunshine that streams through my living room window early in the morning.
He is the voice of a six year old, who meows
"I'd Rather Have Jesus"
on a random whim.

i don't quite know if Henry, my spirited six year old, has fully grasped the power of the life breathing gospel.
only God knows his heart.
so we pray for him, as we do all of our children, that he will come to know and accept Jesus into his own heart when God knocks, and the Holy Spirit gives him understanding.
what i do know, is that whenever i ask him if he loves me,
he says, "yes!,  but i love God the most!"
i adore his young and innocent childlike faith, and i pray that i will always love God the most, too.

one thing is for sure,
he'd rather have Jesus.
and so would i.
:)

  1. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
    I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
    I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand
    • Refrain:
      Than to be the king of a vast domain
      And be held in sin’s dread sway;
      I’d rather have Jesus than anything
      This world affords today.
  2. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
    I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
    I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
    I’d rather be true to His holy name
  3. He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
    He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
    He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
    I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

xo,
mary
