Hey there, friends!
I wanted to share a little lamp redo with you.
No more coop progress, because the master builder is back to work!
:-)
Here is a lovely little lamp I found at Goodwill {$5}some time ago.
My daughter LOVED carrying it around the store for me! Not.
It was sort of a tealy, gold, spongey painting of a mess, and my kids didn't get it, but I liked the shape!
I had already started painting it white with Annie Sloans chalk paint in Old White
when I realized I should snap a picture.
when I realized I should snap a picture.
Aren't you jealous of my 70's orange counter tops? lol
husband building us some reclaimed wood plank counter tops someday.
He made me wood counter tops in the house that we bought, fixed up, and sold and I LOVED them!
Anyway, I painted the whole lamp in the Old White paint, but didn't love it, so then I added a second color, Annie Sloan's Duck Egg Blue{thrown in my order as a free sample}. YAY!
After that, the lamp sat for about 3 weeks waiting to be finished. :-)
I wasn't loving the progress until one day my daughter, Elly wanted a project.
DING DING DING!
I suggested painting the lamp, so she did.
In the end, we ended up dry brushing old white back OVER the top of the duck egg and gave it a good distressing with fine steel wool.
I then added a light coat of Delta Burnt Umber Creamcoat acrylic paint, let it sit on the surface for about a minute, and then wiped it off with a rag, working it into certain areas for a weathered look.
We finished it off with a light spray of laquer and called it a day!
I think it looks much better now.
{I really need a new camera.}
lol
We scouted out the lampshade at our local thrift store for $2 new in the package months ago.
YAY!
My oldest daughter is becoming quite the project queen.
I think all of these projects are helping with the teenager transition.
We are definitely bonding. :-)
Here she is with the treasure she found recently at a junk spot we often visit.
She loves the thrill of the hunt.
Just like her momma. ;)
Blessings.
"Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth."
Psalm 127:3-4
I love the lamp! It looks great.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Donna! I'm so glad to have you here! :-) Headed over to your place!
ReplyDeleteThe lamp looks great! My daughter is like yours, I trained her from an early age to find the treasures at yard sales and thrift stores. She's so out of control, she tries to bargain with the clerks at Macy's :) Thanks for sharing, and I "followed" your blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! We have so much fun together! :-) We sure love a great bargain. So glad to have you on board!
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
