salt and light

good morning, dear friends.
i hope that your weekend was lovely.
i just wanted to stop by real quick and share this photo with you.
i love it.
i want to live it.
happy {lovely} monday.

Be These

"Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."

Matthew 5:13-16

recently i was challenged by these verses in a way i had never been before.
i am to be salt and light.
salt and light for Him.
that is, i am to let God use me as an instrument to be salt and light.
i have no light on my own.
He has to shine through me.
i also cannot preserve or give any 'good flavor' on my own.
salt enhances the flavor of food, it is a preservative, and my favorite...it makes you thirsty.
do i make people thirsty for the Gospel of Jesus?
whoa.
that is a humbling thought.
my challenge for myself today and everyday.
to be salt and light to all those i meet.
letting Jesus shine through me.
letting Him enhance my life so that i may share it with others and make them thirsty for Him.

i think i'm going to have to order some of those!
cute and a great reminder.
thanks so much for stopping by.
have a great day!
see you soon.  :)

  2. I agree with Meredith - great challenge and reminder. I'm doing a Bible study on 1 John and it starts out talking about how He is light and in Him there is no darkness. We need to walk in the Light so that we can let His light shine. I love that. Great post!!
